Maastrichtian, Cretaceous Alaska. Prince Creek formation, a cold and resource-lacking region, with common periods of darkness. Northern Alaska was a part of an ancient subcontinent, denominated Laramidia. The formation probably had seasons when food was not easily available, making survival only for the fittest.
Creatures known from the formation include...
Theropods;
Dromaeosaurus albertensis
Nanuqsaurus hoglundi
Saurornitholestes langstoni
Troodon formosus
Ornithischians;
Alaskacephale gangloffi
Pachyrhinosaurus perotorum
Ornithischians from the Prince Creek formation also include genuses with indeterminate species, such as Parksosaurus, Brachyceratops, Anchiceratops, and possibly Edmontosaurus.

Hane sits under a tree, trying to keep herself in the shade. She suddenly sees an insect fly by, and can't help herself to food. Trying to silently stalk on it, she hears a hiss, which causes her food to fly off. She whines and looks back, only to see a body form over her with claws, and claws striking her. She blacks out for a bit, starting to fight back blindly due to her being previously relaxed. The figure begins to overpower her, but she tries to keep up her strength. She hears a faint roar, and hears screeches too close to her 'ears'. She manages to escape and find a place to camouflage herself in the white fluffy snow.

Ice sits under a tree when a herd of Pachyrhinosaurus passes by. Ice looks at them with evil eyes on and then walks away. A roar is heard from miles away but Ice ignores it.

Meanwhile, Frost walks through a slight blizzard. His feet penetrate into the snow, and he easily walks against the wind that would knock a small dinosaur to the ground. He is searching for food, and can't find anything for two days. The sun can't be seen, and the place starts getting darker slowly. Apparently, the dark season is beginning, and this isn't good news for anyone.

Frost has come across a tree, the first thing he sees other than snow after a moment. He catches up a scent, and it smells like food. He looks around, and sees Hane. He doesn't notice her however, due to her being very well camouflaged. She quickly notices him, and stays still; Her own instinct tells her to stay still, so her camouflage works. Frost gets incredibly nearby, sniffing on the ground like a hungry dog.

She watches him closely, hoping he will just ignore her and move along. However, she does know that some theropods don't give up easily in the search of prey. |

His snout is pretty close to her, and has his teeth slightly exposed. He won't give up, and Hane knows that she won't remain unseen for too long. The blizzard makes visibility reduced, and nothing can be seen after some 10 metres. It starts getting darker and colder, to the point even Hane starts shivering automatically, to warm her body and prevent hypothermia. Frost seems fine, and in fact, it would take much more cold for him to get to that point. The vibrations cause Frost's senses to detect the little signals, which point to him where Hane is. |

But his hunger speaks louder; He follows the scent left by the agile little theropod, and he knows that he'll find her sooner or later. The wind reaches an amazing speed, and darkness is total now. Frost knows that this darkness will last for a long time... |
